HYDE PARK, NY – The Culinary Institute of America used two first half goals from Austin Asadorian to cruise to a 3-0 win over Mount Saint Vincent in the Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference Soccer Championship game on Sunday. Following the contest three members of the Dolphin's squad were lauded with All-HVMAC accolades.
The Steels got on the board in the 12th minute when Asadorian converted his first tally of the afternoon. He took a centering pass from Vincent Cioffi and tucked the ball under the crossbar for the game winning marker. He added his second of the game in the 34th minute on an assist from Ryan Clark. Clark found Asadorian on a restart and he converted the tally 11 minutes before halftime.
The game remained 2-0 until the 80th minute when Clark found the left corner on a pass from Todd Lucey. The marker put the game away and sent the Steels to their second straight HVMAC title.
Dolphin starter Bill Raftery (Throggs Neck, NY) made three saves in 38:00 minutes of work, while James Green (Waldwick, NJ) came on for the final 52:00 and made five stops. Culinary keeper Andrew Hunsberger made nine saves to earn the shutout.
For the game, the Dolphins held the edge in shots at 26-21, while corner kicks were even in the tilt at three apiece. Fouls in the match were called 19-17 against Mount Saint Vincent.
Following the contest, three members of the Mount Saint Vincent team were honored with All-Conference awards. Mike Hernandez (Ridgefield, NJ), Chris Herrera (Flushing, NY) and Ricardo Gonzalez (Rockland, NY) were all honored on Sunday.
The Dolphins close out the 2007 season with a 6-12-1 overall record.
