Bard bests Mount Saint Vincent, 5-2

Hernandez scores twice

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer team fell at Bard College Thursday night by a score of 5-2. Junior forward Mike Hernandez (Ridgefield, NJ) scored both goals for the Dolphins, who fell to 3-9-1 overall on the season and 1-4 in Skyline Conference play.

Bard opened the game strong, scoring the game's first four goals. Aleksander Kirov scored the first three goals for the Raptors, all within the first 31:00 of the match. Narayan Khalsa opened the second half with his first of two markers at the 52:22 mark of the match. He added his second in the 65th minute to close out the scoring in the game.

Hernandez got the Dolphins on the board at 57:30 on his 12th tally of the season. He would add his 13th of the season on an assist from Thomas Federico (Islip, NY) exactly seven minutes later at 64:30. His second goal cut the deficit to 4-2, before Khalsa added his insurance marker.

Hernandez continued his standout season for the Dolphins on Thursday with his two tallies. For the season he leads the team with 13 goals and 29 points.

James Green (Waldwick, NJ) got the nod in goal for the Mount and made nine saves in the contest. Bard's keeper, Steven Stevenson, made six stops to earn the win.

For the match, Bard out shot Mount Saint Vincent 21-12, including a 14-8 advantage in shots on goal. The Dolphins held the advantage in corner kicks in the game at 6-3, while fouls in the contest were called 13-7 against the Raptors.

Mount Saint Vincent will look to rebound this Saturday when it hosts Farmingdale State in a Skyline Conference match. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers.
