Mount Saint Vincent Dominates Yeshiva For Second Straight Victory

over Yeshiva. Four Dolphins scored in double-figures, including Courtney Heesemann (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) who posted game-highs with 20 points and 16 rebounds.

The Dolphins led throughout on Thursday and opened an 11 point advantage in the early going on a Heesemann layup with 15:16 left in the first half. Yeshiva would score the next bucket to cut its deficit to nine points but that would be the closest the game would be the remainder of the evening.

The Dolphins pushed its lead to 20 points on a Karissa Koerner (Bay Shore, N.Y) triple with 5:55 left in the half and moved it to 34 points at 48-14 following a Lauren Percodani (Staten Island, N.Y.) free-throw in the final 20 seconds before the half.

Jill Brady (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.) led all scorers in the first half with 12 points after going 5-for-7 from the floor and a perfect 2-for-2 from behind the arc. As a team the Mount knocked down six triples in the first half with Koerner and Brady combining for four of those.

The Mount scored 14 of the first 21 points in the second half to open a 44 point lead on the Maccabees and the lead would grow to a game-high 53 points twice in the period.

The Dolphins forced 26 turnovers in the contest and converted those into 42 points. The Mount also held a convincing edge on the glass 48-25, in second chance points 18-2 and points in the paint 40-16.

For the game Mount Saint Vincent shot just under 48-percent from the field. Heesemann finished the night 10-for-18 from the floor and nine of her 16 boards came on the offensive end. She also swiped five steals and added a block and an assist.

Koerner finished the night with 17 points for the Dolphins, knocking in four triples and adding three assists and four rebounds. Brady finished off the night with 15 points to go along with five boards and three steals.

Rounding out the quartet in double-figures on Thursday was Percodani who finished with 14 points after going 6-for-11 from the floor. She also chipped in a game-high seven assists and four rebounds.

The win moves Mount Saint Vincent to 10-6 overall on the season and to 7-3 against Skyline Conference foes. The Dolphins will hit the road for their next contest when they travel to Newburgh to take on Mount Saint Mary. Tip-off with the Blue Knights is set for 7:00 p.m.
