Lauren Percondani (Staten Island, NY) also had a strong afternoon for the Mount, registering 12 points and dishing out seven assists.
The Dolphins took their first lead of the day with 19:21 remaining in the opening period on a three-pointer from Karissa Koerner (Bay Shore, NY). Koerner would finish the afternoon with 10 points, knocking down a pair from behind the arc.
In a game that saw the score tied seven times in the opening half, the Rams jumped out to their largest lead of the frame with 3:40 to play on a jumper by Christine Daly that made the score 30-22. The Dolphins would cut the deficit to five points 20 seconds later on a three-pointer from Kerry O'Connor (Bethpage, NY), but that would be as close as the Mount would get the rest of the contest.
For the half, the Dolphins shot 9-36 from the floor (.265), but went 5-12 (.417) from long range. In the opening stanza, the Mount converted 15 points off of 15 Farmingdale turnovers, but was outscored 16-4 in the paint and 12-2 in second chance opportunities.
In the second half, the Rams expanded their lead to double-figures at 39-29 just over a minute into the period and then would expand the lead to 17 on a jumper from Dankery Perez with 14:00 remaining in regulation. The Dolphins would go on a run to cut the lead to eight at 59-51 with 10:45 remaining, but would not come any closer. Heesemann would score 14 of her 16 points in the second half, going 5-11 from the field in the final 20:00.
Other strong performances were turned in by Kaitlin Burud (Red Hook, NY), who finished with eight points, seven rebounds and six helpers on the afternoon. Senior Edeana Martinez (Bronx, NY) was one of four Dolphins to record double-figures, posting 11 points to go along with three rebounds.
Farmingdale was led by Perez who finished the afternoon with 15 points, 14 assists and seven rebounds, four of which came on the offensive glass. Mercedes Miller finished the afternoon tied with Heesemann with a game-high 16 points. She also posted a double-double, pulling down 10 rebounds.
The Dolphins finished the afternoon 21-67 (.313) from the field and 6-17 (.353) from three-point land. The Rams shot an impressive .457 from the floor and assisted on 20 of the 32 baskets they made. The Dolphins finished up with 15 assists on 21 made baskets.
The loss drops the Mount to 2-2 overall on the season and to 0-1 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will be back in action on Tuesday, December 4 at Old Westbury. Tip-Off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
