Brady’s Three-Pointer Pushes Mount Saint Vincent Past Lehman

win over Lehman in the consolation game of the NYU Tip-Off Tournament. Brady was one of three Mount Saint Vincent players to score in double-figures, posting a season-high 17 points.

The Dolphins trailed by as many as 11 points in the first half on Saturday, but used a 16-3 run to move out in front 24-22 on a Karissa Koerner (Bay Shore, N.Y.) triple with 7:49 left before the intermission. From the point of Koerner's three-pointer the Lightning scored just five points the rest of the half, as Mount Saint Vincent finished with 30 of the final 38 points in the period to take a 38-27 lead into halftime.

The Dolphins shot just 26.2-percent in the first half, but converted seven three-point field goals and nine of 10 free throws to gain the advantage. Koerner made four treys in the opening twenty minutes to lead all scorers at the half with 14 points.

Mount Saint Vincent maintained the lead until the 5:54 mark of the second half when a Barbara Febus layup pushed Lehman in front 56-54. The Dolphins sustained another long scoring drought on Saturday, scoring just four points over a five minute stretch that allowed the Lighting to push its lead to four points.

Brady converted a jumper with 3:20 left in regulation to knot the score at 58 apiece. From that point there were three lead changes and a pair of ties. Lehman grabbed the lead with 1:37 left in the contest on a free-throw, which turned out to be the team's final tally of the game.

After Febus missed a free-throw the Dolphins missed two field goal attempts until Brady's clutch triple in the final minute. She went on to convert a pair of free-throws in the final seconds to secure the win for the Mount. Lehman had the ball twice trailing by two late in the contest but turned the ball over each time.

Brady finished 5-11 from the field, including 3-7 from distance. She also converted 4-4 from the free throw line and added three boards, two assists and three steals. Koerner led all scorers on the evening with 20 points on the strength of six three-pointers. She also posted four rebounds and four steals.

Senior Courtney Heesemann (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) pulled down a career-high 21 rebounds and added 14 points and three assists. Jen Mocanu (Middletown, N.J.) chipped in with eight points, while Lauren Percodani (Staten Island, N.Y.) handed out seven assists against just two turnovers.

After shooting under 50-percent from the free throw line against NYU on Friday, Mount Saint Vincent converted just under 87-percent from the stripe against Lehman. Three players combined to go 13-15 from the line, including Heesemann who was a perfect 8-8.

The win moves Mount Saint Vincent to 2-1 overall on the season. After playing three games in three days the Dolphins will now be off until December 1 when they travel to Yeshiva to open Skyline Conference play. Tip-off with the Maccabees is set for 8:00 p.m.
