Burud’s double-double leads Mount Saint Vincent past Yeshiva for third time this season

led three Mount players in double-figures with 26 points and recorded her third straight double-double with 11 rebounds.

Yeshiva opened the contest with a lay-up from Temmi Merlis with 19:41 left in the half. The Mccabees would stay in front or be tied until just under nine minutes remained in the half. With 8:41 left in the half, Courtney Heesemann (New Hyde Park, NY) gave the Mount the lead for good when she converted a lay-up. From there, the Dolphins scored 21 of the next 24 points to close the half and take a 33-14 lead into halftime.

Burud led the Mount at the half with 14 points on 7-12 shooting from the field and six rebounds. Heesemann finished the first 20:00 with six points and three rebounds. As a team the Mount shot .429 from the floor in the opening half and held a 22-15 edge on the glass.

Yeshiva would not be able to get any closer then 19 points in the second half, which it did on four occasions. The Dolphins would take their largest lead of the evening at 33 points, 69-33, with 3:44 left in regulation on a three-pointer from freshman Kerry O'Connor (Bethpage, NY).

Burud's 26 points and 11 rebounds were both game-highs and he mark in points matches her career-high. She shot 12-18 from the floor, with her 12 field goals being a new career-high. Heesemann was also in double-figures with 12 points and Karissa Koerner (Bay Shore, NY) recorded 11. Lauren Percodani (Staten Island, NY) and Ashley Farrow (Ocean, NJ) led the way with five assists each.

Overall the Dolphins shot .483 from the floor, and .385 from three-point range. The Dolphins held a 37-25 edge in rebounding on the night, including a 16-9 edge on the offensive side. The Mount also held the advantage in fast break points at 13-0 and points off of turnovers 31-3.

Yeshiva was led by Lauren Kempin's 15 points, while Jaclyn Ramras finished with 11. Tova Laufer grabbed a team-high seven rebounds, while Kempin finished with six boards and five assists.

The win is Mount Saint Vincent's third of the season over Yeshiva and moves it to 19-5 overall on the season and to 13-4 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will close out the regular season on Saturday with a road game at Purchase. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
