Mount Saint Vincent Snaps Skid, Cruises Past Sage

past Sage on Tuesday night 91-41 to snap a four game losing streak. The Dolphins matched their season-high by scoring 91 points in the contest and also recorded season lows in points allowed and field goal percentage allowed.

The Dolphins scored 91 points for the second time this season, with the first coming on November 21 in a 91-56 triumph over Rutgers-Camden at the NYU Tip-Off Tournament. Mount Saint Vincent also posted season marks on the defensive side of the ball, as 41 points is the fewest it has allowed this season and Sage's 26-percent field goal percentage is the lowest.

The Mount never trailed in the contest and held a 26 point advantage at the half. The Dolphins shot 44.2-percent in the opening period and Heesemann recorded all 16 of her points in the frame. The Dolphins would go on to shoot an even 50-percent from the floor in the second half, as all but one player scored in the game.

Heesemann finished the contest 6-9 from the floor and 4-5 from the free-throw line in the game and also finished with nine rebounds, four assists, three blocks and a steal. Karissa Koerner (Bay Shore, NY) finished the night with 15 points and three rebounds, while freshman Jen Mocanu (Middletown, NJ) posted 12 points and seven rebounds.

Sophomore Kerry O'Connor (Bethpage, NY) recorded a season-high 14 points on 5-10 shooting, including a pair of three-pointers in the game and freshman Beck Delude (South Portland, ME) finished with career-highs in points with nine and rebounds with 10.

Junior point guard Lauren Percodani (Staten Island, NY) had a solid overall night for the Mount and finished with eight points, four rebounds, four steals and a game and season-high nine assists.

Mount Saint Vincent finished up the night shooting 46.6-percent from the floor and its defense forced 25 turnovers which it turned into 39 points. The Mount also held a convincing advantage on the glass, outrebounding the Gators 55-32, including 19-9 on the offensive end. The Dolphins held a 32-6 edge in points-in-the-paint.

Sage (1-9, 1-3 Skyline) was paced by Carlin DeMarinis who finished with 13 points on 4-10 shooting overall and 3-8 shooting from long range. Amanda Crans hit a pair of threes for the Gators on her way to seven points.


The win improves Mount Saint Vincent's overall record to 5-7 on the season and its Skyline mark to 4-1. The Dolphins will be back in action on January 10 when they host Polytechnic. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
