Johnson (Amsterdam, N.Y.) combined to make seven of theDolphins' 11 three pointers in the contest, as each scored in double figures.
The Dolphins were in the game in the first half by knocking down six three pointers, including three from Johnson. He knocked down back to back triples in the middle part of the period to push the Mount out in front by eight points at 19-11.
Mount Saint Vincent sustained a nearly six minute scoring drought in the first half and Army tied the game with an 8-0 run over that stretch capped by a three-point play from Cleveland Richard with just under five minutes to play before the half.
Army shot just under 55-percent from the floor in the opening stanza, but converted just one of its seven three pointers and went just 2-5 from the free throw line. Richard led the Black Knights at the break with seven points, including back to back buckets in the final minute to give the Black Knights the lead at the break.
Johnson led all scorers with nine points at the intermission and DiMaggio chipped in seven, including a triple in the closing seconds to bring the Mount to within one.
Mount Saint Vincent continued its strong shooting in the second half, knocking down five three pointers in the frame. The Dolphins held a lead as large as large as four points in the second half and Army's largest advantage was eight with 21 ticks left in regulation.
DiMaggio gave the Mount a two point lead with a three with 13:33 left in the contest, but Army quickly regained the lead with a three of its own just 50 seconds later. The Dolphins stayed close the remainder of the period and a Shaquille Cunningham (Brooklyn, N.Y.) triple gave them their final led of the game with 6:17 left.
Army closed the game with a 11-4 run and made three of four free throws in the final half minute to secure the win. Each team made nine field goals in the final twenty minutes, but the Black Knights outscored the Dolphins from the free throw line 14-7.
Richard scored a game-high 17 points for Army with 10 coming in the second half. Julian Simmons also netted double-figures with 11 points. Josh Miller chipped in with eight points and eight rebounds for Army who shot 45.7-percent from the field.
DiMaggio led the Mount with 13 points on 5-13 shooting, while Johnson chipped in with 12 on four three pointers. Cunningham netted six points and handed out a team-high three assists. For the game Mount Saint Vincent shot 33.9-percent from the floor.
The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 4-3 on the season. The Dolphins will be off until January 5 when they travel to Sage for a Skyline Conference tilt. Tip-off with the Gators is set for 7:00 p.m.
Post Game Notes: Army is now 26-0 since 1993-94 against non-Division I opponents…The Dolphins have allowed three straight teams to shoot better then 40-percent from the field against them…It marked the 92ns straight game Mount Saint Vincent converted a three pointer…It was Mount Saint Vincent's first game against a Division I opponent since the 1989 season.
