Dolphins were led by junior
Nick DiMaggio (Croton, N.Y.) who finished with a game-high 27 points.
After the Dolphins got on the board first with a Pat Panetta (Ridgefield Park, N.J.) jumper, the Privateers took the lead and never relinquished it on a pair of Quamel Lyerly baskets. Maritime extended its lead to double-figures with 12:20 left in the half on an Andre Cooper bucket and used three free-throws from Joe Bracaglia in the final seconds of the period to take a 16 point advantage into the intermission.
DiMaggio finished the first half with 11 points to lead all scorers, but the Mount shot just 36.-percent (9-25) from the field in the opening 20:00. Tim Dougherty and Lyerly each posted 10 points in the half as Maritime shot 41.7-percent (15-36) from the floor and 92.9-percent (13-14) from the free-throw line.
Mount Saint Vincent put together a quick 7-0 run to open the second half to close to within nine points keyed by five points from DiMaggio and a bucket from Matias Roibal (Boonton, N.J.) in the first 1:56 of the period. The Privateers would answer with five straight points to retake a 14 point lead at 49-35 with just under 17:00 left in regulation.
The Mount would close to within six points after a Tyler Muer (Goshen, N.Y.) jumper with 12:35 left in the tilt, but could not scratch any closer. Maritime would pull away to a 21 point lead with 3:31 left on a pair of Dougherty free-throws. The Privateers would go 6-6 from the line down the stretch to secure the final 29 point advantage.
The Dolphins struggled shooting the ball all night, converting just 35.5-percent (22-62) of its field goal opportunities and making just 5-of-20 from behind the arc. The Mount was also out-rebounded 46-32 in the game and Maritime held a huge 27-10 edge in second chance points.
The Privateers (15-11) shot 48.4-percent from the floor and were led by Dougherty, who posted a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Maritime turned the ball over just 11 times and posted a 21-10 advantage in points off of turnovers.
DiMaggio finished the game 10-21 from the floor overall and 5-11 from long distance. He also grabbed three rebounds and handed out a pair of assists. Roibal finished with 13 points for the Dolphins and also posted a game-high eight rebounds to go along with three blocks. Panetta rounded out a trio in double-figures with 11 points and he also secured five rebounds.
The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 12-14 overall.
