Riverdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Basketball team had its league losing streak extended to three games on Thursday night with a 79-73 home loss in overtime to Yeshiva.

Pat Panetta posted career-highs in points and rebounds against Yeshiva.

Sophomore Pat Panetta (Ridgefield Park, N.J.) posted a double-double for the Dolphins with career-highs in points with 20 and rebounds with 11.

Panetta finished the game 9-13 from the floor overall and six of his 11 rebounds came on the offensive glass. He rounded out a solid all-around effort with four assists in the contest, which was good for the team lead on Thursday.

The game was even throughout, as it featured 10 ties and 22 lead changes, with seven of those ties and 13 of the lead changes coming in the second half. The largest lead of the half was six points with nine seconds left before halftime when Simon Brookim canned a jumper for Yeshiva. After Dino Johnson (Amsterdam, N.Y.) converted a pair of free-throws with one tick left in the opening period, the Maccabees took a four point advantage, at 29-25, into the locker room.

The Mount struggled shooting the ball in first half, converting just 29.4-percent (10-34) of its field goal opportunities. The Dolphins also were cold from long distance, going just 2-12 in the opening stanza.

The second half was back-and-forth from the start, as Joe Cooke (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) trimmed the Dolphins' deficit to one with a three-pointer just 1:23 into the period. Panetta would convert a jumper just under a minute later to give the Dolphins their first lead since 23-22 with 3:28 left in the first.

The two teams would trade the lead of nearly the next seven minutes of playing time, when Yeshiva opened a 55-48 advantage on a Benjamin Lockspeiser triple with 7:43 left in regulation time. The Dolphins would respond with a quick 9-2 run to tie the score at 57-57 with 5:35 left in the second. After a pair of Martin Leibovich free-throws, the Dolphins would either hold the lead or be tied until two more free ones from Leibovich with 1:01 left put the Macs in front 65-64.

Joe Ecock (Brooklyn, N.Y.) put the Mount back in front with 50 ticks left on a lay-in, but Leibovich made one of two free-throws with 29 seconds on the clock to force the extra period. In the extra frame, Yeshiva outscored the Mount 13-7, with Leibovich scoring six of those points.

Yeshiva (7-13, 5-10 Skyline) was paced by Leibovich who scored 30 points on 8-19 shooting from the floor and 12-15 shooting from the free-throw line. Lockspeiser chipped in with 12 points and seven assists, while Brookim posted 15 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

Cooke scored 14 points for the Dolphins, while Eric Van Tine (Hawthorne, N.J.) came off the bench to contribute 10. Johnson had his string of double-figure game snapped at nine, as he posted just a pair of tallies on the night.

Mount Saint Vincent held a wide margin on the glass in the contest, grabbing 46 boards to Yeshiva's 35. The Dolphins had a 20-7 edge of the offensive glass and a 25-6 advantage in second chance points. Yeshiva shot a better percentage at 44.6 for the game and converted 77.8-percent (21-27) of its free-throws to just 46.2-percent (6-13) for the Dolphins.

The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 11-10 overall on the season and to 9-6 in Skyline Conference play. After a day off on Friday, the Dolphins will host Purchase on February 14 at 3:00 p.m. All fans attending are encouraged to wear red, as the Athletic Department will be supporting the American Heart Association.
