Metuchen) dished out seven assists as the College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Basketball team edged Lehman on Wednesday night 81-76.

The game was tight throughout, as the two teams were tied at 34-34 at the end of the first half. The Lighting took a 2-0 lead on a lay-up from Nicholas Watson and then a 4-2 advantage on a jumper from Duane Rhoden with 18:38 left in the opening period.

Derek Charlton (Yonkers, NY/St. Raymond's) gave the Dolphins the lead for the first time in the half on a jump shot with just over 17:00 left to play. Mount Saint Vincent would open a lead as large as 11 points when rookie Dino Johnson (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) knocked down a three-pointer with 10:17 remaining in the frame. Lehman would knot the score late in the half when Michael Waite knocked down a jumper with 27 seconds remaining.

For the half the Mount shot 62.5 percent from the field (15-24), including 50 percent from three-point range (3-6). Garlan led all scorers in the opening period with 11 to go along with three rebounds. Rhoden posted 10 points for the Lightning in the first.

Lehman opened the second half with a hoop from Watson to take the lead for the final time in the contest. The Mount took the lead for good with 18:43 left in regulation on a jumper from Garlan. The lead swelled to 14 points when Johnson knocked down another three with just less than 10 minutes remaining in the contest.

Lehman cut the lead to three points with 13 seconds left on a three-point shot from Jameson Garcia, but could not get any closer as Johnson knocked down a pair of free throws following the made basket.

Johnson finished the night one point shy of his career high of 13 on Wednesday. He scored 12 on 3-4 shooting, including a perfect 3-3 mark from three-point range. He also knocked down three of four from the free throw line. Joe Cooke (Mount Vernon, NY/Fordham Prep) also chipped in 12 points on the night, knocking down three from behind the arc.

Garlan went 7-10 from the field, led the team in rebounds with six and also finished with four helpers, while Charlton added five boards to go along with eight points on the night. Rocco went 6-8 from the field and pulled down four rebounds to go along with a block.

The Dolphins finished the night shooting just over 59 percent from the field (29-49) and shot a blistering 53.8 percent from behind the arc (7-13). Lehman held the advantage in rebounding on the night at 31-28, including a 12-6 edge on the offensive side. The Lightning finished the game shooting 46.6 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from long range.

The Mount has won three straight games to move to 3-1 overall on the season. The Dolphins will remain at home when they host Skyline foe Farmingdale St. on Saturday, December 1 at noon.
