class combined for 44 points, but the Mount's Men's Basketball team ended the 2006-07 season with a 112-58 loss to Farmingdale State during a game played at Farmingdale State on Saturday. With the loss, the Mount finishes the season with a 3-22 overall record and 1-15 in Skyline Conference play, but the fact that the Mount won twice during their final five games and pushed powerhouses Stevens and Old Westbury to their limits during the last two weeks of play means that a very young Dolphin team without a single senior will have a lot going for them when 2007-08 season approaches.
One bright spot for the Mount all season has been the excellent play of their freshmen. Led by Lester Owens (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan HS) and P.J. Ratzke (Riverhead, NY/Riverhead HS), who scored nine points apiece in their last game of the season, the Dolphin freshmen scored more than twice as many points as the Farmingdale freshmen, lending hope that the disparity between the programs will be short-lived. Mount Saint Vincent will not graduate a single player after this season, and with another solid freshman class expected, hopes are high for a very quick turn-around as the 2007-08 season approaches.
