Allentown
, Pa. -  The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Basketball team closed out the Scotty Wood Tournament on Saturday afternoon with a 71-57 loss to Lehman in the consolation game of the event. Senior Kerry O'Connor (Bethpage, N.Y.) led the Mount with 16 points, while Kara McNish (Hawthorne, N.J.) posted a double-double on her way to being named to the All-Tournament Team.

After taking a 3-2 lead in the early stages of the game, the Dolphins would fall behind by as many as 13 points on two occasions before halftime. After a Louvinia Hayes triple pushed Lehman in front 26-13 with 10:43 left in the first half, Mount Saint Vincent put together a 23-7 spurt capped by a Brittany Griffin (Suffern, N.Y.) jumper to close the half and take a three point edge into the intermission.

The Dolphins would extend their lead to as many as five points early in the second half, before the two teams would tie the score four times in the first nine minutes of the frame. After Hayes drained another three-point field goal to tie the score at 51-51, the Lightning used a 14-6 run to close the game to secure the win. Lehman also took advantage of a seven minute scoring drought by the Dolphins.

After shooting 50-percent from the floor in the first half, the Dolphins cooled off in the second half to finish up the game shooting just over 36-percent. O'Connor knocked down four three-pointers for the Dolphins in the game and went 5-for-13 overall from the floor.

Griffin scored in double-figures for the second time in three games this season with 14 points on 6-for-14 shooting and also added seven rebounds. Sarah Kluth (Lynbrook, N.Y.) added five boards and five assists for the Mount.

McNish closed out a strong weekend with 11 points against Lehman and posted double figure rebounds for the second straight game with 12. For the tournament she averaged 10 points and 12 rebounds and earned the All-Tournament Team nod.

Lehman placed four players in double-figures, led by Hayes who posted 21 points and added five steals. Amanda De La Cruz added 19 points and six assists to the winning effort.

The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 1-2 overall on the season. After an extended layoff the Dolphins will open Skyline Conference play on November 30 against preseason favorite Mount Saint Mary. The road tilt is set for 7:00 p.m.
