Riverdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer team fell on Thursday night in its 2010 season finale by a score of 4-0 to Maritime. Junior goalkeeper Javier Mandujano (Norwalk, Conn.) made three saves, while Daniel Cohen (Ardsley, N.Y.) and Jordan Vera (Greenwich, Conn.) each finished with two shots.
Maritime opened the game up with three goals in the first half, with Jason Tursi netting two for the Privateers. He opened the scoring at the 6:55 mark on a penalty kick and then closed out the half with a goal in the 31st minute off a feed from Kevin Connolly. Nick LaRocca scored the middle goal of the half on a header from John Blunden.
The Privateers closed out the scoring with a quick strike in the second half when Haluk Erdogan scored his ninth of the season just 46 seconds into the period. In all, Maritime had five players post a point on the night, with Tursi leading the way with four.
Mandujano finished the night with three stops, with two coming after halftime. Maritime used two keepers, with Michael Vanadia making three saves and Harrison Papson making a single stop and earning the win.
Overall on the night the Privateers outshot the Dolphins 12-7, including 6-1 in the second half. Corner kicks in the match were even at two apiece and fouls were whistled 16-11 against Maritime.
The lose closes out Mount Saint Vincent's season with a 3-7-3 overall record and a 2-6-2 mark in Skyline Conference play.
