, N.Y. The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team closed out the 2010 regular season with a pair of 3-0 losses on Saturday afternoon. The Mount was defeated by Mount Saint Mary by scores of 15-25, 14-25 and 19-25 and then by Old Westbury by scores of 22-25, 22-25 and 16-25. Junior libero Renee Reynes (Bronx, N.Y.) posted 27 digs for the Dolphins in each match.

 

Mount Saint Vincent was able to hit just .032 in the opener against Mount Saint Mary, while the Knights posted an impressive .318 team attack percentage. Irma Nepomuceno (Bronx, N.Y.) led the Dolphins with five kills in the match, while Jessica Williams (Cornwall, N.Y.) and Kaitlyn Gaynor (Island Park, N.Y.) each collected four.

 

Freshman Kallie Maglione (Ridgefield Park, N.J.) led the Dolphins with four of the team's six total blocks in the contest and Bridget Leonard (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) handed out a team-high 12 assists to go along with five digs. Reynes also added a kill and a pair of assists to her match-high 27 digs.

 

Mount Saint Mary was paced by Kaylene Pennings who totaled 13 kills and hit .556. She also posted three total blocks against the Dolphins. Lauren Halverson handed out 36 assists for the Knights and Mary Ann Raftery and Courtney Kenney each lifted 13 digs.

 

The Dolphins also struggled on the offensive against Old Westbury on Saturday, in a match that they posted 17 kills and hit -.009. Sophomore Kristine DeMasi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Mount with five kills in the contest to go along with eight digs. Nepomuceno, Williams and Maglione each secured three kills for Mount Saint Vincent against the Panthers.

 

Leonard was again the team leader in assists in the second match of the day after handing out 13 for the Mount to go along with a pair of aces and eight digs. Nepomuceno led the team in aces with three as the Mount posted 10 in the match. Reynes again posted the match-high in digs with her 27, with Williams lifting nine and Erin MacBride (Merrick, N.Y.) also posting eight.

 

Old Westbury was led on the afternoon by Ashley Greene who collected seven kills and hit .417 and Tynishia George who finished with six winners. Kristina Giordano led all players with 21 assists and Kimberly Catania posted 11 digs. Tonya Miller finished an impressive day on defense with five total blocks.

 

The losses on Saturday drop Mount Saint Vincent to 13-11 overall on the season and to an even 5-5 in league play. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Wednesday in the Skyline Conference Tournament. Time and opponent for the match have yet to be determined.
