Mount Saint Vincent shutout for fifth straight contest

, N.Y. The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Soccer team was defeated for the fifth straight game on Tuesday afternoon after falling on the road at Medgar Evers by a score of 3-0. The Cougars netted three goals inside of 20 minutes in the second half to secure the win.

 

After a scoreless first half on Tuesday, Medgar Evers opened the scoring at the 58:50 mark when Renel Dennis finished off a pass from the left from Kerissa Harris for the eventual game winner.

 

Just under five minutes later Shakera Ho-Sang netted her first of two goals in the tilt at the 63:11 mark for a two goal advantage. Ho-Sang, who has scored six goals in the past two games against Mount Saint Vincent, added an insurance marker in the 75th minute to close out the scoring and send Medgar Evers to the 3-0 victory.

 

Yishka Chin posted the shutout for Medgar Evers and made sevens saves on the afternoon. The shutout extends Mount Saint Vincent's string without a goal to 460:45 dating back to Brittany Kehoe's (Stony Point, N.Y.) marker in the Dolphins' 1-0 win at Maritime on September 27.

 

Junior net minder Kara McNish (Hawthorne, N.J.) made eight saves in goal for the Dolphins. McNish has now stopped 88 shots in 2010.

 

Overall in the contest, Medgar Evers held the edge in shots 17-10 and in corner kicks 4-0. Kehoe and Kay Ramirez (Bayside, N.Y.) shared the team lead in shots for the Mount with three each. Fouls in the tilt were called 12-6 against the Cougars.

 

The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 2-11 overall on the season. The Dolphins will be off until October 19 when they travel to Yeshiva for a Skyline Conference matchup with the Maccabees. Kick-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
