Yonkers, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer team dropped a key Skyline Conference contest on Wednesday night to Bard by a score of 2-0. Junior goal keeper Javier Mandujano (Norwalk, Conn.) made four saves between the pipes for the Dolphins.
Bard earned the win on the strength of two unassisted goals from Jacob Hartog in the first half. On both goals he carried the ball in from the left side and weaved past defenders and was able to deposit the ball in the back of the net. The goals were number 11 and 12 on the season for Hartog who has netted 12 of the Raptors' 14 tallies overall in 2010.
Mount Saint Vincent had several chances in the second half but was never able to beat Bard keeper Deven Connelly, who made five saves on the night to earn the shutout. Mandujano was beat just the two times for the Dolphins and stopped four Bard attempts.
The tightly contested game was even throughout as shots in the contest were 9-9, with Ahmed Ajao (Brooklyn, N.Y.) leading the way with three for the Mount. The big advantage in the match went to Mount Saint Vincent in corner kicks at 7-1, while fouls were whistled 15-14 against the Dolphins.
The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 2-4-3 overall on the season and to 1-3-2 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will look to rebound on October 19 when they host Yeshiva. Kick-off at Gaelic Park in Riverdale is slated for 8:30 p.m.
