At the beginning of the 2017 season, Andrew Gangemi was selected to be the Head Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Coach by Barima Yeboah, the Director of Athletics and Recreation. Gangemi has dual roles at the college; along with his responsibilities as the Cross Country coach, he is also the Assistant Director of Athletics/Facilities and Operations. Gangemi was also appointed the head coaching job for Track, CMSV's newest athletic program.
Gangemi brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to CMSV from his time as an athlete. Gangemi is a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas College, where he was a four year member of the cross country and track & field teams. Upon graduating from STAC in 2009, Gangemi joined the coaching staff at his alma mater as an assistant/distance coach. Over the span of his eight-year coaching stint at STAC, his coaching responsibilities expanded, as he trained sprinters, field athletes and distance runners. During his tenure at STAC, the program had an abundance of success, winning two cross country conference titles, two outdoor conference titles and several All American, All Region and Academic All American honors. In 2015, Gangemi’s training guided the STAC Women’s Cross Country Team to the college's first ever appearance in the NCAA DII National Championship.
After earning his bachelor's degree in Sport/Recreation Management from St. Thomas Aquinas College, Gangemi enrolled in Manhattanville College. There, he earned a master’s degree in Physical Education and Sports Pedagogy. Through the USTFCCCA, he is a Certified Head Coach, Endurance Event Specialist, Sprint Event Specialist and Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
Gangemi is a native of Staten Island, New York and is a graduate of St. Peter’s Boys High School. Gangemi currently resides across the Hudson River in Rockland County. Gangemi also serves his community as a firefighter for the Volunteer Fire Association of Tappan in Tappan, New York. With Coach Gangemi’s knowledge and enthusiasm, he hopes to build a foundation for success at the College of Mount Saint Vincent.
