Riverdale, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent dropped a 6-1 decision to Marywood University on Sunday morning in the Bronx. The team, however, did find positives in the outing, including celebrating both Zoe Fields and Newone Samuels on their Senior Day.
Alyssa Mendoza provided the Dolphins' lone point, earning a straight-set victory at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-2. Mendoza bounced back from a doubles loss to secure the singles win.
Fields also battled at the top singles spot, splitting the first two sets against her opponent before falling in a deciding tiebreak, 7-5. Fields won the second set, 6-4, after dropping the opener, 6-0.
In doubles play, Mendoza and Kaitlyn Mendez put together the closest match for UMSV, falling 6-4 at the No. 2 position. Fields and Kayla Wallack competed at No. 1 doubles, while Samuels and Naomi Green represented the Dolphins at No. 3.
The Dolphins are next set to challenge Hunter College on October 21 in their regular season finale.
